Erislandi Lara returned to the site of her last competitive fight on Saturday night and took down another big underdog.

The 39-year-old Cuban southpaw stopped Gary "Spike" O'Sullivan early in the eighth round 

co-features before Gervonta Davis and Rolando Romero squared off in the main event of Showtime's pay-per-view card at Barclays.

Lara lunged at him early in the eighth round and hit O'Sullivan with another straight left

Referee Benji Esteves allowed Lara to land another punch before stepping between them

Lara (29-3-3, 17 KOs) retained his secondary WBA middleweight title, but did nothing to elevate 

his position in the 160-pound division. Since his controversial draw with former 154-pound 

champion Brian CastaƱo at Barclays Center in March 2019, Lara has beaten four great underdogs

Earlier on Saturday night, Ireland's O'Sullivan (31-5, 21 KO) defeated Mexico's Jaime Munguia
