According to German media, Tagesspiegel, Tesla’s German factory is already the largest industrial employer in the Berlin area. Tesla plans to raise wages for the factory’s employees by 6%. According to INSIDEEVs, in the past few months, Tesla’s German factory has grown in size. The company has employed about 5,000 employees so far. When the factory reaches full capacity in the future, Tesla expects the factory will have 12,000 employees. Although the plant only opened in March this year, it currently produces about 1,000 vehicles a week. Meanwhile, INSIDEEVs estimates that the plant will be able to produce around 3,000 vehicles per week by the end of the year.
Tesla Berlin will produce Model 3 in the future
When Tesla invested billions of dollars to build the factory, it estimated that its final annual production capacity would reach 500,000 vehicles. However, the company will close the plant for 10 days next week in order to upgrade the German factory and establish a shift system. Currently, Tesla’s German factory only produces the Model Y. The company has plans for this factory to produce the Model 3 in the future. Nevertheless, there are no certainties that this factory will produce the Model S and Model X. At present, it has not released new versions of the Model S and Model Y in Europe. At the same time, the company does not show the estimated delivery time of these two cars on the European website.
The American electric vehicle manufacturing giant produced 258,580 vehicles in the second quarter. In the first quarter, the company produced 305,407 vehicles. Taken together, Tesla produced 563,987 electric vehicles in the first half of 2022. Furthermore, the company is on track to deliver more than 1 million vehicles this year. It is worth mentioning that most of the cars produced by Tesla this year came from the Tesla Shanghai factory. In the last month alone, the Shanghai plant produced more than 70,000 vehicles.
