Chinese manufacturing giant, Huawei, is doing all it can to remain relevant in the mobile phone market. Despite the repeated ban by the U.S. and other nations around the world, Huawei’s mobile phone business is yet to crumble. No doubt, the company can no longer maintain its regular launch schedule but it continues to release mobile phones. In a recent blog post by Austrian Gax, the latest flagship from the company, the Huawei P60 series may be released at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in 2023. If Huawei does not release the mobile phone, it will at least reveal some important parts of this series.
From the reports so far, the new Huawei P60 series will come with the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 flagship SoC as the Huawei Mate 50 series. This chip uses TSMC’s 4nm process and adopts an eight core design. However, it supports only 5G network. The CPU is composed of 1 Cortex-X2 3.2GHz + 3 Cortex-A710 2.75GHz + 4 Cortex-A510 2.0GHz. Also, the GPU is Adreno 730 and the overall performance is very good.
In other aspects, according to previous news, the Huawei P60 series will use a 6.6-inch BOE screen with 2K resolution. This display will support a 120Hz high refresh rate. In terms of hardware, in addition to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip, the top version should use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC.
Huawei P60 series camera
According to his Weibo post, the Huawei P60 series will come with a Sony IMX888 main camera, an IMX858 ultra-wide-angle lens, and an OV64B telephoto lens that supports 3.5X optical zoom. According to previous reports, the Huawei P60 series is likely to be the first model to use the Sony IMX888 sensor. It will also use IMX789 sensor and one sensor will be a 50MP, 1/1.4 inch shooter. This device will come with Huawei XMAGE self-developed imaging platform.
Gizchina News of the week
It is worth mentioning that the Huawei P60 series will come with the second-generation satellite communication technology. This will be a huge upgrade compared to the first-generation Beidou satellite communication technology. There are reports that Huawei satellite communication 2.0 can not only send and receive two-way text messages but also support voice text messages. In addition, it also supports short-term voice calls. Thus, the function of satellite communication can play a greater role in emergency situations.
Huawei P60 series to use the HarmonyOS 3.1 system
According to a Weibo tech blogger, Wangzai Beston, a new Huawei phone with the model suffix AL00 appeared in the device code base. Surprisingly, the device runs the new HarmonyOS 3.1 operating system. From the available reports so far, this new mobile phone will likely be the Huawei P60 series. Huawei has since stated its commitment to attend this year’s MWC 2023 event. There are even clues that the company will launch its latest flagship at the event.
There is no accurate statement about the changes in the HarmonyOS 3.1 system itself. However, judging from the suffix, the new system should focus on bug fixes, stability, fluency, and compatibility improvements. In addition, the new system will also bring some new features to the Huawei P60 series especially features that have links to Huawei Xmage. In fact, at the HDC 2022 conference last year, HarmonyOS 3.1 debuted in the form of a development version, introducing new aesthetic styles and interactive experiences for mobile terminals. However, Huawei has not announced the final mobile phone interface UI.
The long-awaited Huawei P series is about to be updated. This is a piece of good news for many Huawei fans mostly those in China. The second gen sat comm tech will be the most anticipated feature of this device. This tech fully shows Huawei’s R&D strength and tech heritage.
