Huawei Nova Y90 launched with 50MP camera and Snapdragon 680

Huawei has just unveiled a new smartphone on its website. The device carries Huawei Nova Y90 and clearly is a mid-range device. Anyway, it brings a large screen and compelling specifications to make it relevant in the budget segment. Provided that you’re not running behind a budget 5G smartphone, of course. Anyway, let’s see what this device has in tow with its 4G-only Snapdragon 680 SoC.

Huawei Nova Y90 specifications

The Huawei Nova Y90 flaunts a 6.7-inch LCD with a Full HD+ resolution of around 2,400 x 1,080 pixels. The device brings a 90 Hz refresh rate which is adequate for the mid-range segment. It also has a 270 Hz touch sampling rate which is very good. The device brings a punch hole in the center for a single camera that has an 8 MP sensor with an f/2.0 aperture. Moving around to the back, the phone brings an oval-shaped island that serves as a home for a triple-camera setup. There is a 50 MP f/1.8 camera, a 2 MP macro snapper, and a 2 MP depth-sensing module. Of course, there is a LED helper for darker environments.

Huawei Nova Y90

The Huawei Nova Y90 draws its powers from a 5,000 mAh battery with support for a 40 W SuperCharge. The company is promising 50 percent charging in just 30 minutes. In terms of software, the device runs EMUI 12. Unfortunately, Huawei didn’t specify which version of Android this is. We assume it’s Android 11, but honestly, this isn’t much of a problem on a Huawei smartphone. The device is totally Google-less and most of the services will come from Huawei itself. The device comes with the Distributed File System through Huawei Computer Manager. It allows the device to connect to a Matebook laptop such as the recently released Huawei MateBook D 16 and access files without a cable.

The Huawei Nova Y90 has one version with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of Internal Storage. The device has three colorways – Crystal Blue, Pearl White, Emerald Green, and Midnight Black. Unfortunately, there is still no info on pricing and availability. This device can easily reach other places besides China. Worth noting that the company is planning a Huawei Nova 10 series that brings HarmonyOS.
